This site is put together by Mel Miller, member of the
Mid-West Tool Collectors Association, PAST, and PNTC. I’ve
collected old tools, etc. since the mid 80s, specializing in
Davis Levels and Patented planes. Patented planes are all the
odd, short lived planes mfg. in the US from 1850 on by various
plane makers who each had “a better idea”.
This Davis Level study is a
work in progress, and comments or additional information are
welcome. Original literature & information on Davis levels is
scarce. I have collected & studied
these levels for over 15
years, and much of the information on this site comes from
personal observation and informed guesses. I would
also like to thank the many fellow tool collectors that have
contributed to this study.

Feel free to email questions about old tools - but please don’t
ask what they are worth. The value of these items depends on many
things, including condition and desirability, which can’t be
determined by email. This Davis Level study is a work in
progress, and comments or additional information are welcome.
